Clemson

Loyalty is a big deal down in the south, where college football reigns king. Current national champions, Clemson University and the famed Tigers bring out the school spirit in a rural part of the state. The town of Clemson is pretty small, but pretty bold – orange and purple are around every corner, and while I was there graduates were taking up every corner of the campus throwing their caps in the air. I had never been here before, but I certainly got a crash course on a recent trip for work to visit a new hotel, The Abernathy, set...

Altman Family Portrait

Family is such a gift! Kris and I work together, and he kindly asked if I would take a family portrait of him and his wife with their one-year old daughter in honor of her first birthday. We spent a beautiful afternoon at Hampton Park underneath an old oak tree, capturing what I hope are wonderful memories that will mark a milestone in each of their lives. There was so much playfulness and spirit among this photogenic family, and I feel lucky to have photographed them! Check out some of my favorites from our shoot below.   ...

Elliott House Inn

Charleston is home – but also a city that others love to visit. There is so much history and charm here, and one of the best places to experience that is at the Elliott House Inn. Nestled in between some of the best restaurants in town, it's a quiet, colorful inn filled with lush greenery that will leave you feeling well-rested and well-educated after a tour with their in-house historian. Next time you come, be sure to book a room! ...

Engagement: Montana + Bailey

I recently had the privilege of shooting an engagement session for my friends Dakota and Kris of WeRomantics. Dakota's sister is getting married in a few weeks and they asked if I could fill in for them – since their home in Portland is just a few miles away from Charleston! So I took Montana and Bailey down to Sullivan's Island and we enjoyed some time on the beach, and I tried my best to capture the light that shined around us and through them. These two are so in love, and I hope their wedding is filled with just as much joy as...

Mens Fashion II

My male model is back at it again! For our next session, we landed at the HarbourView Inn in downtown Charleston, overlooking the harbor and Waterfront Park. With stunning views from the rooftop terrace, we captured stellar outfits to match Patrick's smolder – all during that gorgeous golden hour light. Patrick led me around town to see the sights and show me his favorite photo spots, some of which I'll have to steal for myself. Take a look at blue skies and blue eyes below!   ...

Saint Augustine II: Nights of Lights

One of my favorite parts of the day is when it's ending. The way the sun moves, the light gets warmer, the colors change – it's a magical time and there's a peace that comes over the world for just a little while. In the second part of this Saint Augustine series, my friend Margo and I chased the night, watching the darkness come over the city. During December and January, the city hosts their annual Nights of Lights Festival, a holiday display that covers the district. From the Lightner Museum to the Bridge of Lions, there are (literally) millions of lights everywhere, and it's dazzling. Especially...

Saint Augustine I: Day of Exploring

Some work days are better than others. The best ones are those that allow you to get out of the office and into the sunshine, out of the routine and into the unknown. During a recent work trip with my coworker Margo, I was tasked with doing some daytime photography of the sights in Saint Augustine. Being given the freedom of exploration is a photographer's dream, and I was able to capture some of the city's most iconic places: The Lightner Museum, Flagler College, Bridge of Lions and Castillo de San Marcos. Although I was fighting a pretty nasty head cold at...

Men’s Fashion I

I've got some good lookin' friends, let me tell you -- one of which is a total social media master. Over the holidays, I helped Patrick out with some festive photographs to feature on his instagram (growing by the numbers every day). He's got impeccable outfits from head to toe, and suave doesn't even begin to describe his personality. We ventured out after work one night with the sun already set, and hit up some hot spots in downtown Charleston. Stopping first at Waterfront Park and ending the evening at Belmond Charleston Place, Patrick smized in style the whole way. We're making this...
